  1. 01What is the difference between waterproofing and damp proofing?

    Damp proofing helps limit moisture penetration from the soil. Waterproofing is designed to provide greater protection against water intrusion, including water pressure within the selected product's limits. At Black Dog, our block damp-proofing service is spray only. Our concrete-wall waterproofing includes a sprayed membrane and dimple board.

  2. 02Which waterproofing products do you use?

    We use Tremco WATCHDOG H3 and TUFF-N-DRI H8, depending on the job. For dimple board, we use DMX and other quality brands.

  3. 03Why is dimple board installed over the waterproofing?

    Dimple board helps protect the sprayed coating from backfill and creates a drainage space outside the wall. It works with the foundation drainage system to help move water toward the drain.

  4. 04Do block damp-proofing jobs include dimple board?

    No. Our block damp-proofing service is spray only. Dimple board is included in our concrete-wall waterproofing service.

  5. 05What does crawl space encapsulation do?

    A continuous liner with sealed seams helps reduce moisture entering the crawl space from exposed soil. Connections around walls, piers, and penetrations help complete the barrier. Standing water and other moisture sources need to be considered separately.

  6. 06What is a stone slinger?

    A stone slinger uses a conveyor to place gravel or aggregate into a work area. Where site access allows, it can place material over foundation walls and reduce the amount of manual handling needed.

  7. 07Where do you work?

    We serve Middle Tennessee and the Greater Nashville area. Send your project location when requesting an estimate so we can discuss your site.

  8. 08Are estimates free?

    Yes. Black Dog provides free estimates.

  9. 09What should I send for an estimate?

    Include your name, phone number, project location, service needed, and current construction stage. Plans, measurements, and photos are helpful. For material spreading, include the material, approximate quantity, placement area, and available truck access if known.

  10. 10Will you need to visit the site?

    Some projects can be discussed initially using plans and photos. A site visit may be needed to understand the conditions, access, or requested work before an estimate can be completed.

  11. 11What happens after I contact Black Dog?

    We review the information you send, follow up on any missing details, and discuss the work to include. Once the project is understood, we prepare your free estimate.
